# ENS lookup and domain details

Inspect identity, records, authority, subnames, history, and resolution.

## Overview

Look up an ENS name or address to move from discovery to evidence. The detail surfaces explain which account owns the registration, which account manages records, how resolution works, and whether identity claims agree.

- Ethereum mainnet ENS data

### Prerequisites

- No wallet for public search
- Use a wallet only when continuing to registration or purchase

### Wallet permissions

- Search and inspection require none

### Expected result

- Results distinguish available, registered, listed, unresolved, and provider-error states

### Errors and recovery

- Open the individual name and refresh live state before acting
- Retry only unresolved batch items

## How to use it

1. **Search a name or address.** An address lookup follows primary-name data where available; a name lookup reads the current resolution chain.
2. **Check authority.** Do not assume the displayed resolver or manager owns the registration. Read the role labels and wrapped-name state.
3. **Inspect records and security.** Review record sources, Unicode/security warnings, content links, and identity verification grades.
4. **Use the right action.** Owners can transfer registration; managers may update records; resolver control alone does not transfer the name.
