# Fees and displayed totals

Understand ENS rent, gas, marketplace fees, and wrapper fees.

## Overview

ENS.Tools separates protocol pricing, network gas, sale consideration, and platform fees wherever possible. Always use the live quote in the final transaction rather than a static documentation number.

## What this covers

- Native marketplace orders: 2% atomic fee paid to enstools.eth.
- Registration and renewal wrappers: the live quote includes the displayed ENS.Tools platform fee.
- Ethereum gas: paid to the network and changes with congestion and transaction complexity.
- ENS registration rent and temporary premium: protocol-level amounts that vary by label, duration, and lifecycle.
- External marketplace orders can have their own signed consideration and fee structure.

## Before you run this workflow

### Networks

- Ethereum mainnet unless otherwise stated

### Prerequisites

- Use live chain data and transaction quotes for time-sensitive decisions

### Wallet permissions

- Reference pages request no wallet permissions

### Expected result

- Definitions preserve unknown, failed, stale, and confirmed as distinct states

### Errors and recovery

- Use the linked workflow guide
- Check live status and explorer evidence before repeating an action

## How to use it

1. **Read the line items.** Separate asset price or rent, premium, gas estimate, platform fee, token approval, and total wallet value.
2. **Refresh the quote.** Gas, premium, ownership, and order data may change while a page is open.
3. **Verify the recipient.** The native ENS.Tools fee recipient resolves to enstools.eth and is encoded in the atomic order or wrapper quote.

## Platform fees are not ENS protocol fees

> Integrations and agents must describe each fee by its actual source and avoid presenting the total as protocol rent.
